The Team

Karen Jefferies, Manager

Staff photo of KarenKaren Jefferies, our Manager, has an Early Years Sector Endorsed Foundation Degree and a level three Diploma in Childcare. She has been working in early years for 20 years. The work has fitted in well with raising her five children. She has lived in the Wychwoods for more than thirty years apart from a three year stay in South West France. Karen is our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator.

“I love the Early Years age group because the rewards from the children are huge. They are still so open minded and willing to have a go. After moving on to work at a Nursery School in a top Children’s Centre, managing a Private Day Nursery and then moving to France for three years, it’s good to come back and give some of the knowledge and experience I’ve gained, back to my local Pre school. Career wise, I would like to further my skills in Special Educational Needs.”

Karen is also our safeguarding officer. She has attended specialist training and holds a Specialist Safeguarding Certificate.

Becky Dore, Deputy Manager

Staff photo of BeckyBecky Dore, our Deputy Manager, is qualified to NVQ Level 4 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development and CACHE level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education, (NNEB). She has been working with children for 12 years and is mummy to three children. Becky plans the outdoor play.

“I feel very lucky to get the chance of working in this setting, as it has given local children the opportunity of learning for over 30 years, including my husband, cousins and friends. My work is interesting and enjoyable as young children will always manage to challenge you, making every session different but always ending with a smile. We are very lucky to have a beautiful garden here and we spend most of our sessions outside in all weathers engaging in all sorts of play. I adore going outside with the children enjoying gardening, water play, gross motor play, but most of all messy play!

Whilst planning for the sessions, which follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, I try to use my own experiences of when I was a child or activities I would do with my own children, to help with the children’s holistic development.”

Lindsey Reeves

Staff photo of Lindsey“Hello my name is Lindsey, wife to Matt and mother to Archie and Isla, I’m also an NVQ Level 3 Practitioner and have worked at Wychwood Pre-school since 2012.

Each and every day working with children can throw up it’s challenges, but these challenges also bring big rewards. For me, one of those big rewards is the bonds we make with the children and their families and that these bonds can last long after a child has moved on from our setting.

I really enjoy the arts and crafts and love some of the creations were make at pre-school, especially at fete time. You will often find me baking with the children, it’s one of my passions and sometimes what we make even manages to get home to be seen by the parents and others it’s just the crumbs!

Hope to see you soon!”

Rachel Beynon

“I have worked with children since I left school over 22 years ago!  Staff photo of RachelI have worked in a number of day nurseries, as a teaching assistant in a primary school and as a nanny to different families. Throughout this journey I have gained various qualifications including NVQ Level 2 and NVQ Level 3 in Childcare.

I am married and have an eleven year old daughter.  We are a family of cat lovers, so I have to mention my very spoiled cat Rosie!

I very much enjoy being part of the Wychwood Pre-School team.”

Sophie Collett

“Hi, my names Sophie and the newest member of the team at Wychwood Preschool.
Some of you might know me from the beginning of 2016 when I ran the Staff photo of Sophietoddler group, which I enjoyed so much I came back!

I currently live in Burford, where I was born and went to school, with my daughter Grace.

I have always wanted to work with children because my mum was a teacher at Windrush Valley School and I often went in to help out. However, when I left secondary school I chose a different career path in the hospitality trade. After having my daughter I decided to work towards my goal of working in childcare and began by volunteering with local schools and children’s centres. I then went to Abingdon & Witney College where I gained my Level 2 & 3 qualifications, which included paediatric first aid. During this time I also worked for Burord Preschool.

I look forward to getting to know you all!”
